The beach is why most people come to Phuket. But don't let yourself think that Patong, Karon or Kata are the only beaches on the island. There are many beaches that are much less crowded and even more beautiful. Check out the Best Beaches section on this website site for ideas on different beaches to sample - some great beaches are just off the island and, as yet, still undiscovered.
A must-do in Phuket is a walk in the old part of Phuket City, around Thalang, Dibuk and Krabi roads. The beautiful architecture along these roads will take you back the charm of a century ago. According to Pranee Sakulpitpatana, a lecturer at Phuket Rajabhat University and one of the island’s premier historians, the architecture is a reflection of European influence on the island.
Laem Phrohm-tep is the point that provides the best scenic beauty of sunset in Phuket. It is the Thailand’s most famous place for this. Laem Phrohm-tep is the southernmost part of the island. Tourists may easily drive to this place for it is major tourist attraction, just follow the signs which are put up all the way down to the place. The point for viewing the sunset is up there on the cliff reachable via the staircase.
Patong beach is on the western side of the island. It is very attractive because of its glamorous scenery of the sea. It is well-known for superb night life entertainments, making this site very livel during the night.

About 10 years ago a group of friends were walking through the forest in the Nakkerd Hills between Chalong and Kata when they stumbled upon a place with stunning vistas of both sides of the island – Chalong Bay lay in one direction while on the other they looked down over Kata and the Andaman Sea. It would, they thought, make a perfect place for a viewpoint – something that could become as well known as Phuket’s favourite sunset viewpoint, at Laem Phromthep.
Book the ferry over to Phi Phi Island and spend a day and night before heading back to Phuket (ferry schedules make it difficult to do just a day trip). Home of much of the scenery for the movie The Beach, Phi Phi is a real tropical wonderland.
Take a Drive: Get out and see the "real" Phuket away from the tourist areas
Coconut, pineapple and rubber plantations, rural villages, and stunning sea and bay views are all on offer. You will be amazed at what you'll find, a Phuket that even many local residents don't know about. Soi Bangla is interesting, but it isn't really Phuket. As long as you are coming to the island, you might as well see what is here. Check out Phuket's Best Island Drives. Self drive or hire a car and driver for the day. A couple well-reviewed drivers with cars are here: Phuket People. Read Phuket Car Rent for information about driving on Phuket and how the Car Hire situation works here. This two-meter statue of Ganessha is one of the surprises you will find, but you'll have to go hunting for it yourself
