The Beach
Kata Beach is many people's favourite beach in Phuket. Stunningly beautiful with surfing from May to October, from November to April surfing is replaced by snorkeling and sunbathing and other watersports. The beach is palm lined and fairly busy but never too crowded to be annoying. In the high season, yachts moor just offshore, adding to the ambience and the sunsets here are some of the best in Thailand. |

Snorkelling
If you don't fancy diving or simply haven't got the time to do a dive course, snorkeling is an enjoyable way to view Phuket's underwater beauty. An added bonus to snorkeling is that you have a better chance of seeing fish, as the bubbles from aqua lungs can frighten them away.
Snorkeling can be enjoyed by simply hiring a mask, snorkel and fins from a nearby dive shop and swimming out to one of the reefs on Phuket's west coast, (not recommended during the rainy season). |

The area between Koh Pu and Kata Beach is one of the best snorkeling spots that you can get to without a boat.

Surfing
Yes, we’re not kidding, but it’s hardly world class. Kata and Nai Harn seem to get the biggest waves but they’re actually quite modest. This makes them ideal for learning and some companies based at Kata offer lessons and boards for rent, if the surf’s up! |
